i also have a Ford Laser 83' but after running the car for 2 hours the engine stop

becuase of over heat.? and then after the engine stop, it will start again but will run only for five minutes and i need to pour water onto the exhaust to cool it off before it will run as in normal condition.
 
you might have a bad water pump too. if you look at the water pump there is a weep hole on it if there is water dripping out of it then it is probably bad.
 
Change coolant, thermostat, radiator hoses, fan, and radiator in that order, checking after each step to see if the last fixed it.
