I already have dreamweaver do I need to install XAMPP in order to make php websites?

HI. What do i need to run php on my system?. I already have dreamweaver installed and i just want to make websites I dont want to publish them just for training. So what do I need so that I can run php. Do i Still Need XAMPP. Actually if anyone can briefly explain what XAMPP and AJAX is how important they are for php and are they related? I will be very greatful
