They were looking for an appendicitis maybe? they did that to me too

basically did some serious soap-dropping consequences and asked me whether it was uncomfortable. Really wanted to shout "wtf.. did you think I enjoyed that, you little &^%*&.." but eh, he's a doctor and shit, so...
Oh and doctors are surgery freaks who have no compassion. To them you're just a broken machine. They all seem to be surgery addicts. I know you need surgery for some things that are life-threatening (like appendicitis) but seriously, why would you need surgery for a slight kink in your spine (left lateral scoliosis, something like 5%?) for that you need to have a steel rod stuck in your back? seriously? I think I'll live with it, thanks
Oh and I got turned into a freak show for a while, the doc called all the interns, asked me to bend over and was like "see.. this is scoliosis, left lateral, see how the spine bends?" etc. etc. I think he was mad that I turned down the chance to have a steel rod stuck in my spine.
Anyway, I recently broke a finger and guess what, they suggested surgery again. When I refused, they had so much poking and prodding and pulling (yes pulling) the finger before they put it in a cast. So I couldn't do crap for two weeks. If I'd known better I'd just have strapped it up and sucked it up while the thing healed.
So yea, basically what I'm saying is, doctors are mostly surgery addicts. Most of the time, stuff that's torn/broken will heal. Just strap it up, take care of it, and stock up on NSAIDs and most of the time you'll be fine in a month or two. If it doesn't heal it's not like there's anything a doctor can do.
