Hyundai Accent or Pontiac Grand Prix?

I recently test drove some cars. the two that stuck out the most to me were the 2005 hyundai accent and the 2002 Pontiac grand prix se. they are both very nice cars but the hyundai gets better gas mileage, 30 miles city/ 33 highway. pontiac gets 20 city/ 26 highway, which is still better than the mileage i got with my jeep. also the pontiac is 2 grand cheaper. i dont need alot of room cause i dont have a family or anything but the pontiac is much roomier and i would feel much better about if i were to be in an accident. the hyundai has a lot of power for a little car and i had that thing racing, amazing engine power for a 4 cylinder.i've heard good and bad about both and im willing to go either way with this deal. i plan on taking them in to get checked out and whichever has the best seal of approval is probably gonna be the one i choose. unless someone can convince me otherwise, any opinions???

Get the Grand Prix. Accents are made pretty cheap. Their higher end stuff (elantra, Sata fe) is top notch but the accent is not the car you will be happy with in the long haul. You will also want to check into how much insurance is going to cost as well as licensing fees, that small amount you will save in fuel differences might be lost and then some in extra fees you have to pay on newer cars. You also can not use the fuel #'s that they say they are rarely ever close to accurate. My pontiac gets me 22/34

having a 2001 accent, I would much rather have a 2002 grand prix. is the one your drove with a 3800 or 3100 V6? if its the 3800 is will get more like 30-32 on the hwy. (same engine and trans my Old Lesabre had and thats what it got, its a larger car than both.) My accent is starting to fall appart (right at the 100,000 mile mark, the AC goes out, over drives starts messing up, and the damn thing surges and dosent always go when I press the gas. (granted thats probably a fule filter or pump on that last part but my LeSabre went almost 200,000 before I had any issues, and then it was after I rearended a blazer..)

I would go with the grand prix.

i work in a library and have done a lot of research on cars. i have read in the consumer reports magazines and other auto mags that hyundai is one of the most reliable car makers out on the market. My gf recently bought an 04 elantra. she loves it and has had no problems at all.
