Let me start off with a bit of background info, I'm currently 17 years old and I'm a junior at high school, for the past 2-3 years I've been noticing my sleeping habits getting worse and worse, I've also gained a staggering amount of weight, and with that weight coming on I've felt more and more depressed, when I first started noticing the sleep issues I was super insomniac, It would take me upwards of 5-6 hours to fall asleep(no caffeine) and for the past 4-5 months I've been sleeping for way too long, I feel like im sleeping my life away, I'm constantly tired, I feel weak, I used to be one of the most active people in my house, I've been on break from school for 2 weeks and I stay up til 3-4 in the morning and don't wake up until 7:30-9:30 at night! that's like 15 hours of sleep! I knew something was wrong so I googled my symptoms and the first thing that came up was hypothyroidism so I decided to check out more symptoms and get info on it, some of the symptoms was being more sensitive to cold, now that I think about it, I'm getting cold super fast and thus resulting in me getting frequent diarrhea, and I'm not talking once a week, this is happening 10-12 times a week, some more things were depression and fatigue. After more and more googling a sleeping disorder came up that was really similar to what I had where I feel like I'm sleeping but I'm actually awake, I don't want to live like this anymore, I'm tired of staying at home all day on the computer/playing video games, I want go out and have fun, I hate feelig tired and weak, my grades in school have hit an all time low because I can't work up the will to wake up in the morning, I've become a very lazy and angry person, i should also mention that soon as I read about thyroid issues I remembered that my grandma and grandpa and some of my uncles and aunts take medication to treat their thyroid.
Any help would be greatly appreciative, I've gone to my doctors way too many times, last time I went it was because of the frequent diarrhea and he suggested Zantac for acid reflux which really doesn't match anything that I have.
Also, If you don't think it's hypothyroidism what else do you think it could be?
I'm really desperate and confused
