Hypothitical: People on welfare should not be able to vote.....

Here is my official 2 part plan to reform the welfare system:

1) Short term Government assistance program
a) If you legitimately need assistance to get back on your feet, under federal contract, you agree to accept welfare for no longer than 2 fiscal years
b) during that time, you relinquish your voting privileges.
c) After you are back on the workforce and have income, your tax rate is doubled (or put in a bracket where you are paying income taxes at no less than 20%) until you pay back your debt.
d) PENALTY - If you renege on this agreement, your voting privileges are revoked for the entirety of your natural life, and you are sent to federal prison for 1-3 years.

2) Long term Government assistance program (longer than 2 fiscal years)
a) you agree to relinquish your voting privileges for as long as you are taking federal assistance
b) you agree to work in a public shelter or other public service 40 hours a week
c) if you fail to meet your time investment requirements, your welfare check will NOT be received.
d) voting restrictions continue for a year after your final government assistance is received.
e) if you get pregnant, impregnate another, or give birth to a child while on the long term welfare system, your custody rights will be refused, the child will be removed from your custody, and you will be arrested and put in federal prison for a term no shorter than a year, and no longer than 5 years. Also, your voting privileges will be revoked for the entirety of your lifespan.

What yall think?

The main point of this thread is to weed out those "lifer" welfare whores that do nothing but pop out kiRAB for another check. They NEED to lose something, and their right to vote is a decent proposal.

Well you already know my position on the removal of voting rights. I also think taking their kiRAB away is too extreme. The government already plays fast and loose with child services, taking away people kiRAB on a whim is already a pretty big problem in my book.

Then how about deportation? They can care for their kiRAB in Siberia. The voting rights portion of the deal is fair IMHO. Something the government can hold (since they obviously have nothing to lose) to make sure the people hold true to their part of the bargain.

You don't find anything funny about the fact that the dude has "E-warrior" in his user text, his av is a picture of some hollow points, and then he goes and puts in a ban request the second someone says something mean to him?

There's no threat of wage garnishment, there's a promise of it. A vote gives them the opportunity to reform the rules under which they are bound.

You could apply that to anything. We are all bound by rules in some form or fashion and anyone of us could decide to vote against them. Should speeders have their voting rights taken away until they pay their ticket? There comes a point when the solution doesn't jive with what our country represents.

yeah, he went back and explained that after my comment.

and two years is a very long time, so I agree that's very generous.

The problem I think we are going to find is that the chronically unemployed will all share some common characteristics, and thus these people will be easy to identify on a resume, making it extremely hard for people once they have been identified as a toad to get any kind of job.

we get plenty of applications from people with no skills, no training, no motivation, no drive....and old enough to be undesirable. 25 you still have a chance. 45 no way.

I would agree that you cannot guarantee easy livin forever as a necessary motivation....

but what happens when more than a fair share sinks? Its not like they are going to go quietly into the night. You don't see a lot of vacancies looking for people with low training, low skills. Nor do you see 7 million openings going unfilled because they can't find the people.

of course, we can't find any youth worth a shit in my field, but that's another story.

the sad thing is I would admire someone with enough balls to stand there with a sign saying "will work for food"

but you don't see that.

Hell, I would keep giving people money if they couldn't find a job, but I would find something for them to do.

Thanks for not being able to take a joke

You admitted to trolling yourself, so I retorted.

I didn't say they shouldn't repay the amount or be subject to some kind of tax. I said they shouldn't lose their right to vote. The right to vote is a pretty sacred thing in our country and I don't think it should be taken away simply because a person accepted help from the government. Either reform the tax code or the welfare system, but don't take away one of the basic rights of a citizen

Meanwhile, Obama's Labor Secretary Hilda Solis thinks illegal immigrants have a right to a legal wage:

So no, I don't foresee too many jobs on the horizon for those currently on welfare.

I'm not asking anyone to support me, just discuss the idea. I like to argue, not impress my ideas upon the unwilling. Make your own mind up. If you can't think logically, understand that you have to give some to get some, and would rather feed the worthless wastes of oxygen in this country, then fine, give them YOUR money. Don't reach into my pockets demanding I share your unnecessary empathy.
