Hybrid bicycle: Trek or Raleigh?

I'm looking to get a bicycle to use for recreation, exercise and sometimes to travel to work. I don't want to spend more than $350, and the Trek 7000 and Raleigh's Route 3.0 fall into that range. Any suggestions on which to get, or if I'm missing a good bike for a good price? Thanks.

I very much agree with Bob's answer. They are very comparable and either will satisfy your needs. I would add that it is sometimes important to buy from a dealer with a good mechanic and one that has been selling the chosen brand for quite a while.

They are both good bikes. There is not much difference between manufactures at the same price point. The best thing to do is take a test ride and then decide.

The Schwinn Super Sport that McG is refering too is a fitness hybrid bike not a comfort hybrid bike.

Schwinn Super Sport from a bike shop (Performance has them). It beats both of those you list for value for the dollar. It is right in your price range.
It's lighter and easier rolling than both the Trek and Raleigh when I tested them before buying. Even Bicycling magazine testers are beginning to include (professional) Schwinn's in their top picks by category.
