Husband's strange dizziness

My husband told me recently that he gets a little dizzy when he's sitting still and things are going by, like cars for instance. Can anyone give me some ideas for what it might be? That would give me something to further research. Right now, I'm drawing a blank. Thanks

I get this as well, can't watch the train cars go by, even striped wall paper makes me sick.

From what I've read this can be from old fashioned "car sickness" or sea sickness, (the eyes tell the brain it's moving while the body doesn't, or visa versa, the conflicting info causes that sick feeling), migraine, inner ear dysfunction, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo - aka "ear rocks", cause dizziness/nausea with head movement - or pattern sensitive (photosensitive) epilepsy.

The "Bucha Effect" describes nausea and vertigo brought on by strobe-type patterns of light.

Certainly some people are just more sensitive to visual stimulus than others.

Boozgee,

If your husband is taking any meds, check for side effects because dizziness is a common side effect--especially for blood pressure meds.

Thank you AuntieLeela and bethsheba. The benign paroxysmal vertigo matched somewhat. I'll ask him if he gets nauseous or gets dizzy from moving his head or from patterns.

He doesn't take any medications except the occasional Tylenol, Alieve, or whatever we have on hand for a headache or backache. Actually, he has had had more headaches recently.

I am not on any kind of medication at all, but I am sensitive to visual stimulus. Whenever I have played any kind of computer game in first person in the past, I got dizzy and it only happens when I play those kind of games. Even my car sickness was no where near as bad as that.
