...didn't disclose? my husband is currently in Navy boot camp, and was recently contacted by someone from the FBI doing security clearance checks. He failed to disclose a minor drug possession charge, because his recruiter told him not to mention it, and the judge told him it was cleared from his record. Apparently they aren't going to do anything about it until after he graduates, but what could happen to him?
what about his enlistment bonus and job guarantee (he was guaranteed aircrew)?
 
The severity of what they can do has a big range. It can go from being unable to reach a certain clearance level, which may lead to him having to change his rate TO being kicked out.
 
If he tells them it was just experimental, a one time thing, he should be OK. Maybe it was so long ago and so insignificant, it just slipped his mind. The details are fuzzy............?

Your husband has been lied to and given some really bad advice by his recruiter. There is no such thing as no record of his drug possession charge. There is a record and the agents will find it. I just hope he was honest about everything else.

If his job requires a top secret clearance he has a 50/50 shot at getting it if he comes clean and explains exactly why he did not disclose his drug charge. If he only needs a secret and comes clean he will probably get it.

Worst case scenario ? They kick him out with an other than Honorable discharge for fraudulent enlistment.
