I don't know what to do because the pain is really bad today and I know I have only 2 more days to see the Neurosurgeon but I need help now. They didn't prescribe enough of the Percocet for me because they thought I would have already been in for my final surgery. When I talked to the PA last week she said " Well we can't order Class 2 narcotics over the phone". I understand this but isn't there anything else they can give me that might be class 1 and tell me to double up on that. Same problem with my Lortab because they told me double up on those, too. I can get my refill on the Lortab on Sunday.

I am having a lot of pain even when I try and lay down to go to sleep. The pain is so bad that I have screamed out. It is a sharp pain in the lower back and down my right hip, right leg and now on the outside my left foot. If I even try and put weight on this leg then there is shooting pain into my back. I am sure this is from the ALIF but it is making me cry and I don't usually do that.

Thanks for letting me vent because I feel so bad to day.

Gentle Hugs and prayers to everyone.
Linda

Kyma I am so sorry you are having these problems and i feel so bad for what you are saying i wish they could see that and get you in sooner.

I know they cant order that over the phone is there anyone that could go get the prescription for you?

I feel so bad for kyma and she not even done yet with surgery.God don't know how you people do it and keep your sanity.what a life.hope you all get better soon

Best thing you can do right now is go to the ER. I had to one time and what a relief it was ..They will give you something for your pain..

Kyma, I agree with everyone here. I would either arrange for someone to pick up the prescription for you or go to the emergency room. You don't need to have to deal with this pain right now, especially right after the first surgery and right before the next surgery. Please continue to keep us all updated, and I will lift you up in prayer!

Oh honey, I wish I lived close by, I would have my hubby help you out. I would too but I can't drive. :D

Thinking of you and praying that you are able to complete your surgery soon.

Linda,
I agree with Shawley...if you can't get more meRAB then go to the ER and they will give you some. Can you have someone else pick up the RX at your docs office? You should not have to suffer girlfriend. Let us know how you are! Hang in there.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I took double on my Lyrica and it helped because I am thinking sciatica. Since my original pain rated 10 (actually more) and now I am at a 8.

SusanG650- I am not to do anything until they finish my surgery. I had the Anterior Lurabar Interbody Fusion on 1/29/08. I was suppose to have the Posterior Lurabar Interbody Fusion on 2/12/08 but I came down with a wound infection and they have been treating me with antibiotics. I go to the doctor on Thursday and I have got to tell them about this pain.I am only allowed to sit up for 15 minutes each time. If the wound infection is okay then I believe my surgery will be on Monday, 3/3/08. I think it looks as good as you can get it.
Susan I wish I could do exercises but he was very strong on doing nothing. It seems lilke I always have problems recovering from the surgery so I am not sure if I might be allergic to something they have when they stitch you up. I was told a long time ago that I was allergic to cotton and they should not use that on me. I had had a hysterectomy and had an infection in the wound and then 2 years later had my ovaries taken out and I had an infection again. I have been told that they don't use cotton anymore so I don't even mention it to the surgeon but I am going to tell them on Thursday.

Who has had this procedure done? Will you tell me if I am doing too much since I have been restricted quiet a lot. I don't know if I am doing something wrong and this pain is expected. It is such a strange pain because it has now moved over to the left side (leg). My doctor says he doesn't like recliners but I have felt that is the only place I get comfortable. I do walk around the house but can't really stand any longer then 10 minutes and the same thing goes for sitting. I try and sit down at the table with my DH and I can only sit there for maybe 5 minutes. Since I was hurting all morning long I tried sleeping in the recliner and the couch. I had a terrible time getting off the couch. How does everyone sleep? I guess this is one of the negative things about my surgeon being in Nashville and me 2 hours away. I thought about going to the ER but the Lyrica kicked in and I was able to get some sleep. But the pain that I am having is terrible. When I get up in the morning or when I go to bed at night I don't want to feel this bad but this pain comes when I move and when I try the body roll to get out of bed then the pain starts up again and I am in tears when they hit.

Thanks again everyone for just being there for me. I can tell you that the PA is going to hear a lot from me because she is the one who told me to go ahead and double up on pain medication. This board is great.

Linda

Thanks again to all
Linda

Soooooooooo sorry you are soooooo bad. I can feel your pain from your worRAB.

Seems that all the post I've read today folks say they are so bad today and so that is the case with me too. WEATHER I guess........a FRONT coming across America again.

I know this sounRAB like a strange question, but do you do exercises for your condition. The best, and I do mean the best thing I can do when I'm that bad is get on the floor and do GENTLE.......very GENTLE and only a FEW exercises for the back (SI JOINT and FACET JOINT for me) and it does help.

SOmething is sitting on that nerve. If you can stretch, sometimes you can move the muscle, strenghten it and get some relief.

In all the years I've had NUMEROUS Back problems and pain, especially SCIATICA, EXERCISES have always, always helped the most.

You can find a HOST of them on the net doing a search. Guess I'll be doing them for the rest of my life to strengthen my SAGGING CORE. :D Pain meRAB are only a temporary solution...........though I understand the URGENCY of them, and have to take them myself.

FEEL BETTER SOON.................

Linda, I hope you were able to get a little sleep and are feeling better. But I doubt that you do without proper pain meRAB. Unlike Percocet, Vicodin (Lortab) CAN be called in to the pharmacy. It's not as strong as Percocet, but it's a whole lot better than nothing! If you can take the maximum dosage, usually 2 every 4 hours, you'll at least get SOME relief. This is ridiculous that you're having to stay in so much pain. It's irresponsible on the doctor's office's part. Please, please call them and get SOMETHING or else go to the ER. You're going to be exhausted for the next surgery if you have to keep gritting your teeth through this pain.

Sweetie, I hope they'll do something for you and you get relief.

Kyma,
you just described my pain; I know how much your suffer... So sorry!
I can't believe they left you without meRAB. This is such a ... not to prescribe your meRAB over the phone... I get my prescriptions call to my pharmacy from NYC even though I leave in NJ. This is an excuse some offices use not to give you more meRAB. This makes me very upset when i hear this.

I hope, sweet heart, you can find some relieve. Call them, let them know how much pain you are in and let them try to help you. Not fair to you!

(((( ))))) and please, let us know how are you doing...
