"Huntik" to air on CW4Kids this Fall

Is this related to that movie that came out last year?

Looks pretty good. I look forward to seeing it. Hopefully it gets a good audio track.

CW4Kids needs a lot more shows than just that Chaotic, Spider-Man, TMNT and YGO 5D though and 4kidsTV needs filling as well. So this is surely just the tip of the iceburg for new pick-ups for 4kids' blocks.

I don't think I've ever heard of a Huntik movie before, so I'm not sure what you're talking about!

I think so too and it should just keep its original music instead!

They could just start making brand-new original programming for both blocks, you know!

Well, judging from the trailer, the show already has an English audio track, so I don't think 4Kids will create a new one, seeing as they kept the original audio for Di-Gata Defenders. But I guess you never know with 4Kids...

Winx never had an original english audio track like Huntick. Winx was originally in French when it was first created and turned into a Cartoon.

4Kids CW is really turning into a hot lineup. This is gonna be an interesting line-up..But what I do hope is that they don't forget about the fox 4Kids Tv lineup.:(

Winx Club was made in Italy, and there was a version they aired that was in English for English-speaking European countries. I believe it was even included on the Italian DVDs.

Oh yeah. I saw the trailer before and it looked so awesome. It actually reminded me of W.I.T.C.H., but that might have also been because of the artwork. Anyway, I'm glad that they are licensing this series since it looked so much better than the other series from the creators of the Winx Club. Besides that, this series would work better with the promotion of "From the creators of the Winx Club" because of the whole magic aspect of the series. I'm definitely looking foreword to seeing the series this fall.

Well, this wasn't very surprising. Huntik is one of the few worthwhile SatAM-capable shows on the market right now.

I think that the English voices in the trailer are decent, I hope they keep them, because frankly I'm tired of hearing the NY actors.

Di-Gata Defenders was done by Nelvana, not 4K!ds.

He's referring to the movie Seeker: The Dark Is Rising. No, this series isn't related to that movie. The movie was supposed to be based off of Book 2 in the Dark is Rising Sequence, written by Susan Cooper, but there are so many alterations that what little is from the book is altered so that I couldn't recognize the book in the movie.

I'm aware of that; I was just making the comparison between Huntik and Di-Gata because they're both foreign properties that have preexisting English audio tracks.

I don't suppose one Rainbow S.p.a. property entails another? Because I personally wouldn't mind Monster Allergy on that line-up.

Anyway, I saw the trailer a couple a months back, and like others stated, the animation and character designs are nearly parllel to those of W.i.t.c.h. However, this show seems to have potential, I'm going to take a wait and see approach, though I am relatively hyped for it's arrival considering my first thoughts on the trailer when I saw it originally were, "Too bad I'll never see this is the US." Overall, The CW 4k!DS is shaping up to look sort of good.

Sightly off topic, but I thought that movie was based on that book. I read the whole series, but nothing I saw in the commercials for the movie looked anything like the book. No surprise that they made so many alterations from the book. That's often the case when books are turned into movies.

Anyway, I don't think that I would mind if they did change the existing English audio. It would seem like a waste of time, but if their voices fit well for the characters and I enjoy the storyline, then I would be content with that. It could honestly go in either way so we'll just see what happens this fall.

The big difference being, Nelvana owns (AFAIK) distribution rights to Di-Gata in the US and merely "sublicensed" broadcast rights out to 4Kids, meaning 4Kids probably couldn't have redubbed it if they wanted to, while Winx, AFAIK, was wholly owned for distribution by 4Kids, so it was treated more on par with their anime aquisitions.

So, this really depends entirely upon how the licensing works. If Rainbow SpA does what they did with Winx Club and grants 4Kids full distributorship of the series, then I can guarantee you it'll get a new dub because 4Kids is far to egotistical to use what already exists. But, if Rainbow SpA pulls a Marathon and decides to distribute this one themselves (as Marathon does with their shows, or as Toei was doing with Slam Dunk and Air Master) then 4Kids won't have a say in the matter - they'll have to air the tapes they are given since they'll only have broadcast rights.

Because the news article quoted in the OP is all phrased from Rainbow SpA's point of view - that is, it says "Rainbow SpA is selecting partners" and "Rainbow SpA has licensed broadcast deals with xxx and xxx", it leads me to believe Rainbow SpA will personally distribute the show in the US and has merely sold broadcast rights to 4Kids (and, for that matter, it could very specifically be for CW4Kids meaning 4Kids couldn't even shuffle it over to 4Kids TV if they wanted) meaning 4Kids will pretty much have to use Rainbow SpA's dub. Which, based off Winx Club, is a very, very good thing.
