Hunter x Hunter Manga Chapter 261+ (Spoilers)

I was also pissed that Meruem was revived. He was already way too over-powered to the point of being downright broken as it is, so the fact that Netero's final explosion attack went completely in vein really annoys me. Not only that, but now Meruem can even fly now, as an added bonus (this reminRAB me of the time in DBZ when Cell self-destructs only to be completely regenerated and come back even more powerful than before, lol ).

As for the story itself, though, things have been getting pretty intense. Even though he doesn't even compare to the ants in terms of power, Gon has somehow managed to really intimidate any of them who have talked to him. That said, I'm not so sure that I like this sudden development in which he's now going so far as to automatically use an innocent blind girl as a hostage to get what he wants, even if its to revive Kaito into being normal again.

Overall, though, things have certainly been kept interesting, so I can't wait to see what future chapters bring into the story.

Update for chapter 306:

HOLY CRAP! GON IS....
....A MAN! Sorry, but my very first reaction to his mature form was: WTF is up with his hair?........At any rate, to be honest, I'm not quite sure that I actually liked this sudden development. I mean, one of the great things about HXH is how it avoided falling under some huge shounen cliches and pulling off truly unexpected things, but this right here is pretty ridiculous, since its already a cliche to give the main hero an extremely convenient power-up due to his rage, and while that's all fine and dandy, this one is especially ridiculous seeing as how much stronger Pitou already was than Gone, meaning that Gon just went up exponentially in power. Sure, there was that bit at the end of the chapter about him probably not being able to ever use the power of Nen again as a penalty to this temporary transformation, but even then, I somehow get the feeling that Togashi will probably find a way around that. I mean, its not like Togashi hasn't done stuff like this before, but honestly, even YYH never had such a ridiculous level of power-up in comparison to a much stronger villain. That said, the one thing that I did truly enjoy about all of this is that Pitou finally got his ass handed to him, BIG TIME! I mean, seriously, he just got completely and utterly dominated in this fight, and even felt that in this state, Gon could possibly even be powerful enough to take on the King. Oh well, it looks as though he kind of just blew that trump cared up on Pitou...way to go, Gon....

This was so stupid i dont even know how to react. This powerup is just ridiculous and makes no sense whatsoever.

This better be Gin's nen that he put on him when he was a baby or something because thats the only way this would make any sense.

Togashi... i am dissapoint.

When I think about the frequently long hiatuses that we've had to endure, and how much the narrative of the series has changed after all of these long breaks, I'm beginning to think that Togashi is just plane losing interest in writing this series. Honestly, this chapter sort of reminRAB me of the stupidly ridiculous and wacky things that Togashi did with Yu Yu Hakusho back when he must have lost interest in that series (honestly, the ending in the manga really makes absolutely NO real sense). I really hope that he isn't going down this route yet again with HXH, and that this most recent chapter was just a case of Togashi trying to pull something big off, but unfortunately failing utterly at it. At any rate, I'll personally be happier when this arc is over. It was great for the most part, but it has beeng dragging on now, for at least 20 chapters too long. It really neeRAB to end.

That said, I still say that it was really satisfying to see Pitou get completely owned, even if it was through poorly-written means.

Actually, I think this has been in the works for a long time. In Volume 23, when Gon first meets Meleoron, he specifically says that if Meleoron were lying to him, he'd be able to kill him without reservations. That's exactly what Pitou just did to Gon. This isn't just some random power-up; we just don't know the reason behind what happened yet. This is the first time Gon's ever dealt with something like this emotionally, and Nen changes based on emotional states. Let's wait and see.

I thought this week's chapter was wicked.

Its not so much the fact that he had a power-up that I don't like. I also realized that he might have some sort of power-up in store, since there was definite foreshadowing to it. What I didn't like about the chapter was how ridiculously powerful Gon got from this power-up. Powering up enough to be able to kill Meleoron or even someone significantly stronger than him is easily understandable, but the way things were set-up, Pitou was EXPONENTIALLY more powerful than Gon or any of his frienRAB. Even the Octopus guy (I forget his name, ATM) noted that if he, Killua, Palm, Knuckles, and Gon were to fight Pitou at the same time, they'd still utterly lose and die together. So I just find it to be a bit too much that Gone could actaully level-up this much in an instant, even if only for a temporary amount of time. but, perhaps I'm just kind of disappointed because I really wanted one of the major Chimera Ant generals like Pitou or Yupi to be successfully taken out through strategy and whits rather than raw power (being that part of the charm of this series for me is how the heroes can finally end up taking out a bad guy several times stronger than them through impressive planning, by the end of a major fight).

As for the arc itself as a whole, I still think its in relatively good shape, and the whole ordeal with Pufu trying to stop the King from regaining his memories about the human girl he actually cared about is really effectively tense. Its just that this arc has been going on for so long that I kind of want to see the series move onto something new, pretty soon.
