HTML simply problem with formatting?

I have 2 tables on a page. One is aligned left, and the other in the center. However, when the 1st table becomes larger (more rows) then the table in the center moves down....even though they aren't directly below/above each other. The only thing is that the first table's code comes first, and the second one after. So changing the second table doesnt matter, only the first.

I need to make the 2nd table stay in place, regardless of the 1st table's size.

Yeah, this is a stupid question most likely :)
