HTML mail shot problem?

Hi... I have noticed that the normal way I would use to add page Navigation links to a website doe's not seem to work when I do it in an email shot. When I create the template I save it as a HTML so the link obviously looks for the html file but I suspect the format is being changed somewhere along the line when I send it which is why when it arrives with the recipients, these page navigation links are broken. Is there some other kind of method I should be using or a way of getting around it. I even tried converting it in to a Outlook template and amending the links accordingly but this did not seem to work either.
