First of all, why just link to Google maps? If you know the address, perform the search then link to the search results. That way the user doesn't have to enter the address themselves.

Probably the best way to do this would be to setup a new website (you could even get it hosted for free). On this new website you would write a page that simply redirects the user to your current Google maps link. Then instead of putting the Google maps link in your ads, put a link to your new site that will redirect the user.

With users going through your own site in order to get to Google, you shouldn't have a hard time finding out how much traffic you are getting. Most hosting services provide basic traffic metrics for free.

I've got an ad for some property for sale by owner on craigslist. In that ad I have a link to google maps so that people can enter the address of the property and see it's general location. Is there an html code I can enter into the listing that will tell me ( somehow ) how many times someone actually clicked on the link to look at the google map? I'm trying to decipher whether or not it has been an effective tool or if people are not even using it. Thanks in advance!

p.s. If there's no html code that can tell me........is there any other way to know?
Can somebody just answer the question without all the other mumbo jumbo? I want it on craigslist for a reason and I don't want to give out the address. If it can't be done simply tell me. If it can will someone please tell me how. Thanks!
