HTC Touch Pro vs BlackBerry Curve 8330

Being with Alltel in this particular area is rather...crappy. We aren't switching to Verizon for another year it seems, and the smartphone pickings are pretty slim.

My plan was always to, instead of renewing my 2 year contract to get a new phone, buy a BlackBerry Curve off of Ebay and wait until what I thought was Verizon's takeover this January 2010. That's exactly what I've done. So far the phone is nice, and I love the Facebook integration and the keyboard is easy to type on.

Problem is i find myself only using Facebook and some of the basic phone functions because honestly the browser blows, it doesn't have enough memory to run opera, the sound quality with headphones also blows so Pandora and slacker aren't used, GPS takes a lot of work to get it functioning correctly so I hardly if ever use GPS on it.

I've toyed around with opera on my old PocketPC, and it is quick, infinitely more usable than the blackberry browser, and runs decently enough on it with only 64mb of program memory, which the Touch Pro I imagine would be able to run it even more smoothly because of the 288mb of program memory.

I've read, however, that the Touch Pro has bad battery life and doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. I think I'd also miss my Curve's LED notifications.

In my situation, do I buy myself a used Touch Pro off of Ebay for ~$150 and keep it for a year, or will the Touch Pro not be worth it over the curve?

Is the touch pro going to do what I want, and more importantly will it be able to do what I want without it dying with an hour of web browsing via EV-DO?
