HTC Legend running 2.1 keeps prompting me to enter SIM Pin code

I apologies if this has already been addressed in the forum but I cant seem to find it.

At least five times today, I pressed the power button to bring my HTC Legend running Android 2.1 (Eclair) out of sleep to check the time, see if I have an e-mail, etc., and I was prompted to enter my SIM pin code.From what I can tell, the phone looks like it had come out of Airplane Mode, even though I didn't enter that mode on my own.

Do note that the phone is not rooted and has a few applications I have downloaded from the official Android market.

Kindly help as I have been missing a lot of calls and have to check my phone every few mins.
 
Hi anandrameshm and welcome to the AC forums.

Most people would use the Menu button to do that, instead of the power button.

If the SIM card is loose, and disconnects, you can get the behaviour you're seeing. Check that the contacts on the SIM card are clean, and the SIM card is pushed in properly.

Also there are a number of apps that can turn Airplane mode on/off. You said you haven't downloaded many apps, but is one of them some kind of Toggle Settings type app or widget that can turn stuff on or off or adjust stuff?
