Yea the issue is still on the newer fresh Rom but on the Zen exp it was gone probably because its based on a gsm rom. But i didn't like it so ima have to put up with the annoying error on fresh 2.3.3. I think this Rom fit more of my needs.
 
Hey Eddie,

You should try the DarchDroid 2.7 rom. It's CDMA based and the error isn't there. It comes stock OC'd to 710 so its really quick, the interface is super clean too.
Just make sure to install "Google *****s", not trying to curse, thats just what its called lol. It's on the XDA forums in the same DarchDroid 2.7 post.
 
SAME problem here with Data Call Failure, 'cept my situation has gotten worse. Followed the advice of a Sprint Techie to do a factory reset of my Hero. BADDDD advice, as I am now completely unable to register my gmail, have NO home page, can't access messages, no phone numbers....nada. And I STILL am getting the Data Call Failure boxes.

HOW to rectify this?????
 
Thanks v, ima give it a try asap. Cuz yesterday it got worse.. the message popped up like 20 times one rite after the other then my phone locked up. And restarted its self
 
All my data call failures, etc disappeared after I switched to Froyo. I don't get any disconnects. I can stream music all day with no breaks!
 
Error disapeared on the darchrom mentioned by volcomdc and I'm running the newest CyanogenMod6 rom. its with froyo, everything working except mms.. I just email my pics and no error
