HTC Desire syncing help!?

Yo, I got a brand new HTC desire, and need some help!
How do I get rid of all my Facebook contacts in my address book and stuff? I only want to view people I've added myself, but also want my friend stream to stay active! These smartphones are bloody confusing!


Oh, and I've also gone into settings - accounts and sync - facebook. Then I unchecked the box to sync contacts, but nothing happened. Does it require a reset or anything?
 
The sync on Android phones happens quickly, but not immediately. Give it a few minutes and make sure you have a data signal. I don't know if no syncing Facebook contacts will get rid of the ones you have there, so you may have to do that manually.

I'm assuming you are using a Google mail account and it's contacts. The easiest thing to do would be to do all your contact updating, editing and deleting on your Google account on the web (from a computer), then reset the phone to factory settings, start it up clean, provide your Google account info to log in fresh and let the phone sync with your Google account.

Then, make sure you don't add syncing for Facebook or anything else.
