HTC Desire reply texts drop the + in country code?

little red

Hey I am in Australia and I have an HTC Desire which I have recently had repaired as it kept rebooting and freezing. I took it back to Telstra and they returned it with a new mainboard. This fixed that problem but now I have new problems!

Since I have got the phone back when I reply to messages to some of my contacts (not all?) it will drop the + in the country code. I am only sending within Australia, however, instead of sending it like +614xxx xxx xxx it will drop the + and only send it to 614xx xxx xxx, which makes it an invalid number and it won’t send. I have to rewrite or forward the message and go into my address book, choose the contact and send it that way.

This doesn’t happen to all of my contacts, just some, which is even stranger. It is very annoying though, as I can’t just reply to a message. I have tried changing the contacts to different formats which include the country code and without but it makes no difference.

Would this be an issue with the phone or with my provider?

I hope someone can help me!

Thanks for your time!
