HPV, having sex with just one person?

My doctor told me I have HPV...and I most likely got it from my fiance. She told me the only way to get rid of HPV and keep it gone is to have very little sex partners and to use condoms all the time. But if i'm having sex with just ONE person, the same person I got the HPV from, can it still get worse?
