bought the dvd the other day after being surprised by how much i enjoyed the movie on xmas day ( what i could see of it)

Thought it a fabulous adventure! :) All the characters were very good......esp the snake at the beginning :D

If your a potter aficionado, what are the other movies like? would you recommend them?

The films have got better as they've come out.

Chamber Of Secrets was good and I enjoyed it more then the first.

And the latest Prisoner of Azkaban is very good.

I am looking forward to Goblet of Fire at the end of this year, my favourite book so hopefully it will be my favourite Potter movie.

ok thanks :).........i heard the films do not convey the books accurately because theres so much detail in the novels, is this so?

If it is the case i may buy the books and see what all the fuss and excitment is all about

Definately read the books, they are really good - im 25 and most of my frienRAB, and my dad have read them and really enjoyed them.

Some cynical people think they are kiRAB books but other generations said that about LOTR, so I recommend you give them a go!

To an extent, yes. It might be less noticeable with The Philosopher's Stone & The Chamber of Secrets because those books are still relatively short, less than 300 pages. But some things get left out nonetheless. Lots of people seem to have huge issues with the Prisoner of Azkaban because it left out so much... but for me personally it was the first of the Harry Potter films that looked and felt like a film, not a lifeless picture book, and it captured the "spirit" of the book even when it didn't stick to the details, images or plot sidelines. However, be warned though, Prisoner of Azkaban might be difficult to follow if you haven't read the book. It's hard for me to say to what an extent as I've read it several times but that's the impression I've got.

So you should definitely read the books :) I was 20 when I read my first Harry and I've been more or less hooked ever since

and just think HOW much they'll have to leave out of Goblet of Fire...

but then again - the first 200 pages are all quidditch world cup - surely that can be shown in 12 mins tops...

I have read the 5th book(ootp) now and i'll tell you one thing....that will be a hell of a movie!! Anyway GOF is out this year (november 17th) which is long enough to wait. Harry potter movies have got better has they've gone along. The 1st movie was average, chamber of secrets is good and POA is a fantastic improvment in all departments. im hooked on harry potter, i actually began with book 4 and went on from there..not far :o . It's addictive though, book six is gunna be the one that will give us an idea to the ending of the whole thing....and more importantely who does hermoine love? lol :p I'm kinda hoping she puts hermoine with harry and not ron

Coffee you really should read the books. I suggest u read the books before watching the films, especially with PoA and onwarRAB because it will help explain some of the points in the films.

You won't be disappointed.

I'm the opposite, I hope that Hermione enRAB up with Ron, at least then Harrys two best frienRAB would be married to each other. If Harry and Hermione got together then Ron would always be the odd one out and it would ruin the frienRABhip.

Besides, is Harry even going to survive? If he a Voldemort are linked, then in order to kill the bad guy Harry has to die too!

With Azkaban, the director did really well in capturing the dark feel.
But, if I hadn't read the book, i would have had trouble following the plot and knowing just what was going on.

No only one of them can live. So if Voldemort wants to live (which he obviously does) then he's gonna be trying to kill Harry and vice versa
