how's life?

how does the card 'interrupt applications?'

i've never gotten a usb EXPANSION CARD to work. only the built-on bus. usually it's an interrupt conflict; usb is really picky about what it shares with.

btw, thanks for the comments on the cars. it's a really fun hobby that you can drive around in. ;]

sucks about the truck. you should know already you have my sympathy; look at the shot of my first green car when it got stolen!

gah!

anyway, i agree with you about cars that are cars instead of computers, but i've done a lot of work on that prius (remember, that's a hybrid; mostly computer, a little bit of car) and it's also quite rewarding..

r u up still at 4am, or just waking up at 4am
-cause I basically get up almost every morning at around that time to go to work until 2pm which sux

yea I saw the pic of the car, that really sux, cause I went to u-wrench it to see if I could find a new window but found none  , so I ended up paying for a new one somewhere else...but dang it sux to see all those cars totalled, it just looks creepy to me...like what the hell happened to them...one looked like it got wrapped around a pole, scary thoughts

oh, and that usb2.0 thing is called a USB2.0 CardBus PC Card Adapter
I tried to see if it had a hardware conflict or something but couldn't find one, there's got to be one thing or something that's not working right...I thought it was just the cd burner having problems but the rest of the laptop just seems funky with it plugged in...without it, it runs fine

the USB generally wants to use IRQ 11. PM me with your system config. Operating system/if you have printers/scanners & what they're plugged into. Also does your USB card have jumpers on it or is it completely software config?

seije - it sounds like an interrupt conflict.

maxpower - i know with my system it was an interrupt conflict. worse yet, the abit kt7a-raid i was using is very particular about devices. depending on which pci slot a device went in, it shared IRQs with onboard devices or other PCI slots. i had too many devices that were unwilling to play nicely, thus something had to go.

in order to make the usb2.0 + ieee1394 card work, i had to remove the network card.

i just replaced the mobo + cpu + ram yesterday, though, and everything i have works great (8 built-on usb2.0, two 1394, sound/net/etc/etc..)

Ahh my fault for assuming an IDE or UDMA/66 configuration. Implimenting RAID the USB often likes IRQ 14.

But ya Anyway new mobo w/ all that built-in surely solves the prob. Let the manufacturer worry about the Interupts.

broken's right. it's a pci steering problem. acpi didn't work from the get-go, and i had so much crap in the machine that was not happy to share IRQs that it was just over from the beginning ;]

what's going on? I couldn't understand all the lingo, lol
I don't have a network card though, but the usb2.0 card won't work, what's those IRQs ur talking about, maybe I can work with something on that
