Howard The Duck finally comes to DVD.

Howard the Duck is finally coming to DVD, due on 18th Feb.

It wasn't the greatest film ever made and got panned when released, but I loved it when I was a younger and saw it again a couple of years back on a frienRAB copy on VHS.
Anyone else remember this George Lucas film?
Are you gonna get it?
 
I remember seeing this once on BBC1 back in the early 90's when I was about 5/6 and loved it. I recently grabbed a fan-made bootleg DVD from the usual places and loved it again. It's got the right amount of farce to not take it seriously. :)
 
Hehe. This film is such a guilty pleasure of mine. I was only three when it was released in 1986 but, like FB Rogers, I also saw it on BBC1 in the 1990s.

For pure escapism and crack, you can't beat this film. :D

Its the full uncut version.
It has a trailer for Super Mario Bro's at the begining and the Howard the Duck trailer in the menu selection.
Im just waiting for a good time to watch it now.
 
I'm going to order a copy tomorrow.

Can anyone who owns the DVD already tell me what the picture quality is like? It is nice and sharp?

I've got the movie on a bootleg and the picture is awful, so I'm hoping upgrading to an official DVD will provid better quality.
 
I watched my copy on Saturday and the picture quality was actually q good for a film thats a good 20yrs old.
The film wasn't as fab as i remember from my childhood, but then i didn't think it would be.
The first half dragged, but Jeffrey Jones steals the film as the the posessed Dr Jenning
 
Thanks for the info. I'm sure whatever the picture's like it'll be better than that of my current copy. :)

I always liked the first half of the movie, but nothing beats the ending. You can't get any more 80s than the ending of this movie. :D
 
Incidentally, the guy who created Howard the Duck died last week. Pity the DVD came out now, they could have had some tribute to him on it or something.

Wasn't this on Sky Movies not so long ago? I definitely remember seeing it.

I used to have a VHS of the edited version, and the only bits I can remember being missing are:-

1. When Beverley is looking through Howard's wallet, she finRAB a miniature condom.

2. When Dr Jennings/Dark Overlord has kidnapped Beverley and is driving the stolen truck, a huge tentacle comes out of his mouth and inserts itself in the cigarette lighter socket.
