The timing belt runs off of the water pump. My car has had some overheating issues lately. I've narrowed it down to the Radiator or the Water Pump. The Nipple on the radiator where the Hose clamps on dry rotted and shortened and the hose kept slipping off, so we screwed a screw through the hose and the nipple to stop the hose from coming off. It wont come off but still the car overheats. It takes it a few to overheat but it eventually starts to run hot. No white Smoke or anything that leads to a Head Gasket. Could the radiator be my problem? Maybe the way we have it 'rigged' isn't holding enough pressure.
Anyways how do you diagnose a faulty water pump on a 2002 dodge neon?
The overheating just recently started when the nipple of the radiator broke off and shortened. Maybe the way we have it rigged isn't working. It feels that it's holding pressure, but maybe it's not holding enough?
