How would you define Sexual Terrorism?

In your opinion, is it possible for acts of terrorism to be sexual in nature? If yes, how would you define sexual terrorism? In your opinion how new is it for acts of sexual abuse to be used as a weapon of war? I'm doing a huge project on this topic for my terrorism class and although i find lots of "facts" online, i was curious to see what "normal" people thought of the subject! The more indepth you want to go the better! Thanks!
 
For thousands of years, conquering armies have used rape as a weapon of war. The idea seems to be to colonise the captured territory long-term by slaughtering the men and planting genes in the local female population.
It is abhorrent and inhumane, but seen from above, completely logical.
Personally, I am sad to belong to the same species who do this sort of thing.
 
why the longwinded essaay? you little pervert? rape!!! is terrorism! do i need to say more, fool?
 
The use of it to terrorize people into not going against the will of someone. There could be found examples of this in Argentina during The Dirty War. Sexual Terrorism was put to use as a way to torture women or at least was a terror women were to face in secret prisons after abduction by Secret Police. The Guards or the Secret Police would rape women in the cells in the prisons. The soldiers in wars sponsored by the U.S.throughout Central and South America would rape women with the approval of U.S. Administrations and this went under the name ''Fighting Communism''.
 
there are many cases of sexual terrorism and they are certainly nothing new take Sierra Leone(although better now under a non military government) and other places in Africa where there have been numerous reports of gangs some military some not where it is a trade mark to rape the women and girls of a village under attack specifically to spread aids so they suffer a long death usually telling their victim they now have aids either during or after the attack. there are numerous cases where women who are breast feeding are raped/ gang raped only them to have their breasts cut off so they cannot feed their child. I'm afraid i dont have any links to any sites but it's in Africa that you will find the best( that is to say factual well documented) information.
