And if the western troops just packed up, said to the middle east: "stuff it, run the nation how you see fit." Then let the Afghans have their trillion dollar mineral deposit.
Now, I know some may argue that this will lead to terrorists over-running america and destroying it, but America would have enough man power (& technology) to protect its airspace, coasts & borders if the troops were employed to protect & defend those as opposed to occupying & blowing up foriegn soil.
