I'm writing a book and I don't know how to write this one part. I need to tell what the sign says but I don't know how to put it.

We stop in front of a green building with a sign that read,

Are there some kind of marks I need to put around what the sign says?

You can just write what's on your sign in bold. After write what was on the sign below.
