How would I write my story from two characters' perspectives?

As in how would I differentiate them?

Should I switch every chapter or divide the book into two parts or...?

I was going to make the first and last chapter in the main character's best friend's perspective and the rest in the main character's perspective.

But would that be odd?

and it's in first person, obviously.
