what shipping method would you use, I know it will be expensive but flowers are light, but I want to make sure they are packed right and will definitely get there like in 24 hours from Oregon to Wyoming ? Thanks
thanks to answer #1, I have a yardful of flowers and I know personally a local owner of a florist shop, maybe i'll ask her which in my yard would ship best. They have to be from my yard to this person, not florist flowers, special reason :)

It depends on what kind of flowers you are sending. For instance if its roses they can be dry packed in newspaper and boxed for shipping. If you want to send Hydrangeas...forget it. They won't survive the cutting and shipping.

Most flowers are shipped dry pack from growers all over the world. The secret is speed and coolness. I'd be afraid to ship in excessive heat since the shipper doesn't have a multi-million dollar shipping contract with you so has no qualms about leaving the box in a hot environment.....what I'm saying is you can do everything right but the shipper may mess up. Still, how cool an idea to try.

But if you are shipping wildflowers or others that cannot be cut, cooled and shipped dry, well.............

I would rethink this. Many states have strict restrictions on plant material coming into the state. If you get caught shipping an invasive or restricted plant, the fines are astronomical. Tamarix is a highly invasive plant out west, for example; and cannot be moved, shipped, seeds collected and planted, or purposefully planted. In most states and Canada, Purple Loosestrife is an invasive plant and the same laws apply. Purple Loosestrife has wiped out many native wetlands, because it grows so prolifically it chokes out all the native vegetation and animals that live there. The wetlands dry up because they become so overgrown with loosestrife.
Nurseries must be licensed to ship plants to other states, and there is always disclaimers that nothing can be shipped into certain states. I believe Oregon is one.
