I am picking up a used backpack carrier tomorrow. Its the nylon material kind on a metal frame. I want to clean and sanitize it before I put my baby in it. Any suggestions on the best way to clean it?
I use the clorox anwhere spary on everything. Its called clorox anywhere. Its is safe to use on baby tools or any thing that needs wiping and cleaning.
Use 1/4 cup of chlorine bleach in 1 gallon of hot water. You'll need to use a rag (not paper) and that must be something you can 'throw away' because the strength of the bleach will shred it. Dip it and wring it out slightly and 'scrub' every part of the backpack well, then let it dry thoroughly before you put your baby into it. Do the part where the baby's mouth may 'bite or chew' extra well. DO NOT RINSE and don't use ANY SOAP or detergent. All you need is bleach, water and SCRUB.
If you can get the fabric off...wash that by hand, but a good method of sanitizing is steaming...using hot steam to kill germies. They make all sorts for clothing and floors and such...otherwise you can use something like Clorox Anywhere...I don't think that ruins fabrics but does have a germ killing agent. But I think steam cleaning it would be the best. I use my steamer ALL the time.
