What are the signs? How would I know if it is the transfer case that is bad on my Jeep Wrangler 2000? What are the signs?
The Jeep barely goes forward in 2WD but can drive in 4WD but @ abt 15MPH+, the back-end feels a bit like it is floating. Almost as if hydroplaning. It got stuck in about 3 inches of snow.(The other Jeeps pointed and laughed and I felt bad for mine!) There is no grinding or other such noises. When switching from 4WD to 2WD or back I used to hear a kerchunk when the drive tranferred (I guess) - now I hear nothing. Please help with advice? I don't have a mechanic that I know or trust and I would like to go into a shop sounding like I know what I am talking about to avoid bad... service,
