How well did UK Government making environment Green?

Its another window-dressing exercise by the government.They see this as another way of gaining extra taxes without too much criticism from the public.We are constantly bombarded with facts which don't always add up but looks as though the government are interested in this subject.
We are all aware that something needs to be done, but by forcing laws on the public by introducing fines, taxes etc will not be the answer in the long term.
Just as a side note, count the expensive gas-guzzling vehicles used by departments with- in government, that should give you a clue.

If the government want to be more green, they should give incentives to the working man to make his house greener by reducing taxes on things like home improvements, and ensuring that greener energy alternatives are made available. Surprisingly, most villages in Great Britain (mine included) still don't even get supplied with gas. How backwards is that?
Last winter, to keep warm, I burnt more coal and wood on my open fire than I've ever burned. As the price of household heating oil reached it's highest EVER, it was all I could do to keep my family warm. Bet if I did that, then thousands of others did it too. I bought a nice new chainsaw, and sawed up half of the trees in Lincolnshire.

The only "Green" the UK government has made on the environment is the money it has raised through fines and taxes.
Carbon Credits are the biggest joke so far because all that has done is move the "Carbon" problem around and allowing a few people to make extra money from them without actually doing anything positive about Carbon emissions.

They would do better trying to educate these African nations and the third world Muslims that breeding like rats is causing as much pollution by straining resources as billions of cars do, and why is it that every thing that's good for our heath the planet or medical costs 5 times as much or more, greed and profit come first as for that tree hugging sh-te, that's well down the list.
