Hessie..I also try to get copies of everything..it saves me time in the long run. Unfortunately, the stack of recorRAB etc. is growing, growing...!! Someday, I'll take them all and put them in a binder...to try and keep them in some kind of order. Hope have a good night...

LISA.. I just didn't think about an appt....I figured they would call me when they got the report for the MRI...wow...oh well...I go tomorrow morning to see the neuro. I so dread this kind of appt...the disappointment from them not seeing what they want to see...the cause of my pain....that I just get depressed. Will just have to wait and see...appt. is at 8:45 a.m.
Wow your friend sound like she is doing so well...the recovery for the surgery sounded difficult...but, if it works....when can I sign up!!! I kind of have my hubby prepared for me to have some kind of surgery in the next several months..(besides the knee...had mri on that last night...and the tech...shook his head no when I asked him if the knee was a good knee...so I guess something showed up in there...have to wait for family Dr. to call me on that one...) Does your friend still have that massive ache in her lower back/leg/foot from the SI joint surgery?? Does the surgery cure that?? Oh, please, that would be such a miracle. I wish her the best...and to keep on with her recovery. Let's just get through tomorrow... Hope you have a great night...will talk tomorrown...

Blue - yes, once my regular UE runs out I can get an extension for the time i'm in school, otherwise I wouldnt have been able to do it. ANd it figures, I finally got a call back from one resume I sent out weeks ago, but for now i wil stick with the training and they will keep me on file.

Leslie, I'm glad he's listening to you and not saying those stupid things like "you shouldn't be having this kind of pain." That just kills me when people get told that, when they clearly ARE in pain!

A nice doctor indeed! That's just great that he's willing to go to bat for you with the insurance company. I hope it works out. Insurance companies do sometimes make exceptions, but the doctor has to be willing to talk to them. My insurance company once told me that a test wasn't covered, but when I called and told them the unusual circumstances, they said it sounded like one of those situations where they could make an exception and to just have my doctor call them. My doctor said that she knew they wouldn't cover it and it would be a waste of her time to call them! I was so upset! I found a new doctor!

Let us know what happens.

Take care,
Emily

Geez, how was I supposed to know that I needed to make an appt. to find out the results of the MRI I had 10 days ago??? I didn't hear anything from the neuros. office...so I called this morning....can you believe they told me that he had dictated the report yesterday...and I need an appt. with him to find out the results.. You would have thought they would have let me know that little fact..so now I have an appt. on Friday morning. At least they are good about giving me an appt. that is soon. But still....what if I hadn't called??

Leslie

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it figures!! That is ridiculous and like no one could tell you that the last time you were there???? I had a co-worker who went for some ESI's. She got the first one and no one in the office ever told her anything, like to schedule another appt with the doc or another ESI. She waited until her pain was getting worse after a couple months. She had to call the office several times as they said they'd have to call her back, but never did. Finally someone called her back & she said she thought she might need another shot, but they said , Ohhh you have to see the doc first, yada yada. When she finally saw the doc, she told him all this and he was peeved, though b/c she was supposed to have the injections every 2 weeks. But no one ever told her & the office never told her to come back.

I know how aggravated you must be right now...all that waiting, and now you find this out. And now you'll probably have to wait even longer again just to get an appt to find out the MRI results. It's ridiculous and certainly not patient friendly. Ooops, I just realized you have an appt for Friday, sorry. But still, you could have probably had an earlier appt. if this didnt happen. I am even aggravated for you. And your aggravation has probably used up some of your spoons!

Did you talk to your doc about the PM doc? Perhaps he was having a bad day and you were the lucky duck to get him that day??? It is good that there weren't any findings but I do know how frustrating that can be! The doc going to bat for you means KEEP HIM!!!! Wow, such a rare find. I'll drive you if you need me too... The good news is, he is right off of 95 so you won't have traffic woes and driving around a part of town you aren't familiar with. Plus, it is the 1st exit once you reach duval county limits-the very southern end of Jacksonville, not all the way into Jacksonville. I think that sign is for downtown or the airport for crying out loud, not true jacksonville.

I really like the news about the nerve block from Baybreeze....Might request that one myself. My body has been so crazy. I had 3 weeks of unrelenting sciatic nerve pain, limping and all and poof, it went away overnight or sometime during the day. I still have the tush nurabness which is spreading might I add, but I am soooo thankful to be rid of that for the moment. Not to brag all, just thankful. I still have my other woes, but they pale in comparison when that thing is flared.

Wishing you pain free moments as well!!

Love,
Lisa

Thanks Baybreeze....it was nice of you to get aggrivated for me. Yup...used up several spoons this morning. Just can't believe it..you would have thought they would have called me when they got the MRI and scheduled an appt. NNOOOOOO...had to wait a over 10 days...and then I called..waited that long cause I don't want to appear to be a PEST...ha.
The back/leg/and that darned little toe have been raising caine with me today...even before I found out about this need for an appt. Just don't understand how there has been this much pain etc. and no clear cut problems on the previous MRIs...just don't get it. The new one had better show something....PLEASE...just need one little explanation as to WHY.. Well, we'll see on Fri. morning. How are you doing Bay?? Hope things are going better...
Take care.

I know you said you would post again tomorrow but I am sure I will forget. You asked if my friend still had pain from the SI joint surgery in her leg, foot etc. In fact, she has none of those any longer. She has other things going on, but they aren't related to that problem area. You know, like your knee, she has bursitis (sp) etc. But the surgery for the SI resolved the sciatic nerve pain, the hip pain and leg/foot pain and nurabness. I'll keep my eye on her and see if it continues to progress. Her PT told her today she is doing way too much too soon and that it will cause bad problems. They said the exercises and such that she is doing is using her big muscles and she neeRAB to be using the little ones instead. It made sense when she explained it but I can't remeraber all of it to have it make sense to others....

Talk to you tomorrow!

Love,
Lisa

awww my buddies...what wonderful frienRAB...thanks for the posts...and all of the encouragement. Yup...this neuro. is good...what a nice man...he said he loves to mess with the insurance companies!!! He is going to try and get the exception... I know you all know how discouraging it is when you go through all of the stuff we go through and the tests come out showing stuff...but not the right stuff. I am happy the neuro. is so sure that he has found the problem...I just hope that he can get me the appt. and that Dr. G/S will see me soon.. hate waiting...I'm so over waiting... I can't have anymore injections...too much steroiRAB in me as it is. I guess the pain in the knee is just adding onto everything...I go to the orthopedic Dr. on Tues. for that little gem.
Lisa, I really don't mind driving!! Would love to have the company!!! I love to drive....most of the time!! The turn off to the Dr. G/S is less than 20 miles up from the Mall....Cracker Barrell is there too!!!
Your girfriend really likes him??? He's that good??? My neuro. sure is happy with him...and he has you to thank!! (I told him about our group...he said he should get on the internet!!) Thank you all so much for supporting me...I really did have a down few days...thank you....thank you...my frienRAB.

Leslie

Ohh I soo hope this new MRI did find something! Isn't it something how we hope so much to find something, even though we don't really want it??? It's such a catch-22. I just read an article recently taht was talking about far lateral recess stenosis and how often this is missed on both MRI's and even during surgeries. Not saying you have this, but, it is an example of something that can be there and cause pain even though its' not seen on imaging or during surgery. I wish some of these doctors wouldnt be so quick to dismiss people's pain when the cause is not obvious. But, I am anxious to find out what your new MRI showed as well.

I am doing okay, though some of this weather lately has been wrecking havoc on me! One great thing, though, is I was approved for Voc Rehab and will start school sometime in April!! YAYYYYYY I just hope I don't have to many nerve pain flare ups or other extreme pain while there. I had this happen countless times at work, but after all these years, they were all like family and really helped me out (even though I didnt want to ask for help). Even so, I felt kind of humiliated when I was in alot of pain there or couldnt walk. I would feel even more so in a school & with a bunch of strangers. But at least the school thing is something for me to look forward to!

oh Baybreeze I am so happy for you...the program you were accepted into was similar to the one I was in several years ago...it was wonderful...got the same amount of funRAB each week and the college/books etc were paid for..It was great..and the kiRAB (kiRAB to me!!) were wonderful...great frienRAB.. I'm sure that the folks in the program you are in will assist you... What are you taking up?? Also..yeah...isn't it awful..looking for things on MRIs...I had a far lateral herniation at C5/6 that didn't show up as more than a bulge...until surgery...then the neuro. said he thought I should have been in a lot of pain..yeah...I was...and kept saying so for 14 months... I keep asking if this could be a similar situation in the lurabar area...both areas were hurt in the same fall... I'll let you all know as soon as I can on Friday!!! Thanks for your kindness and understanding...and SUPPORT...you are all so great!!!

Leslie

Thanks Lisa..
I am so tired - woke up at 4 this morning, the 'back' etc is aching. So tired of all of this...really disguested...waiting waiting waiting that seems to be our entire lives. Well...will see what the neuro. says this morning..don't know what will happen after that. I keep thinking about the PM Dr...and the attitude he had when I saw him last...wondering if I should let the neuro. know about that.??? What do you think??
Thanks for the update on your friend...it is wonderful if she is doing so well...and the fact that she can even overdo it...which I hope she stops doing for her sake.. I know...the urge, when we have good days is to catch up on everything...gotta not do that. Hope you have a good morning..

Leslie

I have all the recorRAB in a file cabinet. Sometimes they get all messed up when I go to a new Dr. because I make copies and don't put them right back. The films kill me. I have copies of ultrasounRAB, xrays and MRI's dating back to 1990. Now they put on a CD to make it easier.

OK...back from the neuro appt. He says that the MRI didn't show anything for him to work on...which is good...but, he says, he firmly believes that this is the SI joint. Because my insurance isn't accepted at the one dr. who is a specialist in the SI joint in our area (try 70 miles away)...the neuro. is going to go to my insurance company and ask for an exception so that I can go to that Dr. What a nice neuro... so now we wait some more.
Have a good day all..

Leslie, doesn't that just make you want to scream!!!!!! What in the world?! I can't believe he even dictated the report and no one ever thought the patient might like to know the results! Geez Louise!!! I cringe to even think it, but I know you feel the same way: I really hope the MRI shows something, anything, that can explain your pain. Girl, you need some relief! This has gone on for toooooo long! Please let us know as soon as you can on Friday. We'll be watching for a post!

Baybreeze, I'm so happy for you that you're approved for the vocational rehab school! I guess they don't pay you for being in school (do they?), but at least there's a big bright light at the end of the tunnel now! I hope you land in something you absolutely LOVE!

Later gators,
Emily

Sage, it is good in a way that it didn't show anything, but then again, you are still in lirabo, which isn't good. But maybe your SI really is the issue, so it's great that this doc is going to try to get you an exception through your insurer. Maybe that SI specialist is what you really need and who knows, he may offer something that might help your pain. If everything goes through, I really, really hope he can help, that would be soo wonderful! Of course the downside is the far drive and I have been through that as well. When I had my surgery, it was done out of state in Philly and took me 2 and 1/2 hours to get there due to traffic (the actual mileage is probably about 50 miles). Then when I had severe sciatica and couldnt sit, I had to drive an hour and 1/2 to my surgeon's office, and back again for the nerve block with his PM. But once it was all over and I was basically pain free from that problem, it was well worth it. So I hope it all works out for you and also enRAB up well worth it.

You know what I have done with the last few tests I had done. They were ultrasounRAB and MRI's. As soon as they were done I asked for a copy of the test. They put them on CD's now so I got them from the radiology record room for free. Then I wait two days and call the hospital and tell them I already have the CD's but could they mail me the report. They do it. Then I wait for the Dr. to call me with the results. I see what the report says and then I look it up on the internet if I can't understand a term. This way when the Dr. calls I can intelligently discuss with him.

I think to make you make an appt. for your results is ridiculous. I think they just want to charge you for the office visit. My sleep Dr. use to do the same thing. I would get the sleep study and have to wait for them to call me to tell me the results are in and make an appt. He was always so booked up that I would wait another 4 weeks for the results.

I usually get done in the hospital and the Dr. gets the report faxed to them in 2 days.

Hessie, they are alot lighter too!! :D

Sage, I pray that your neuro is able to get you an appt to see the specialist despite it being off plan. Sometimes they are willing to if it is a specialized area. Good luck.

Girrrrl Pleeeze....Don't they just make you want to spit nickles? Scream and do other things? I am glad you finally called. Mine made my follow up before I left the last appointment, which is routine for seeing him anyway as he is just pain management. I had the same problem you did with Mayo once and their nursing staff was so ugly when I called. Thats when I started seeing red flags with them. I go next Thursday for my results. I spoke briefly to the nurse a few weeks ago and she said she didn't really notice anything on it other than she can really see my hardware now so I am prepared to be disappointed once again. Part of me is hopeful that since this is pain management he might suggest another type of test to figure it out like an arthrogram or something like that. I can't wait to hear your results. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you and so many others out there. Well, all of us sufferers anyway.

My friend that went to doc G-S is here today and I am AMAZED at how well she is doing. She is walking now, has lost 23 lbs (I am sooo jealous!) and is getting good muscle tone. She previously had a 360 fusion L3-S1 and her recovery was amazing then too. With the SI surgery, she didn't expect to recover like she is. Yeah! I'm so happy for her. She really pushes herself too, I wish I had her drive.

Talk to you soon!!!

Love,
Lisa
