I don't know much law, and next to nothing about that.

But, one thing that has been working to slow them down in many cases when you show up for court is the following. Tell the judge that you want proof that they hold the title or deed to the house. So many mortages have been bundled up in packages and sold and resold it takes some lawyers about 6 months just to find it. So, hold off on asking for that until the last minute, maybe they have it but if they don't the judge won't give your house over until they find the document.

Also check with the local bar association for lawyers who provide free services to low income people.

It would help if you had a local lawyer help you out since there are other reasons for foreclosure apart from failing to make payments. They may be foreclosing due to unpaid insurance, taxes, state of disrepair, diminution in value due to market conditions or alienation without authorization. Other than that a dispute letter needs to properly identify the parties, the property, acknowledge the basis for the foreclosure and provide every defense to the foreclosure that you can think of including defective or invalid service of process if your husband is deployed. They may have omitted or failed to submit a valid military affidavit. Best to check with a lawyer so you do not mess this up.
