I was thinking about buying 3 - 4 ohm JL 12W3v3 subs from this website. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17146. First of all, are the facts on this site wrong or did they change something on the subs because the JL site says the subs are rated for 500 RMS but this website says 300. But I would like to put three of these in my car. I know that the final impedance would be about 1.333 ohms, so I know I need to get a mono 1 ohm stable amp. But if I got three of these subs, how powerful would the amp need to be at 1 ohm? Would it need to be able to push 1500RMS at 1 ohm?

On the JL site, the chart says that it is rated for 500 watts. But, the power graph at the bottom says that 300 is optimal. That's why OCS says they are rated at 300. To power them well, you could use an amp that is between 1000 and 1600 watts RMS at 1 ohm. I would go for something around 1250 at 1 ohm. That way you stay well out of the "warranty void" zone on the power graph.

An Orion HCCA-D2400 would work pretty well. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16574
