how to watch movies on flat panel tv like the windows 7 commercials?

i hate having to plug my computer into the tv via hdmi because it is really short and annoying. i saw on the commercial that you can watch movies wirelessly on a tv from your computer. can anyone help me here on how you do that exactly. do i need a tv tuner card? thats just popping up in my head i have no idea what that does.
 
A tv. tuner card would probably not help you in this case, as it's for making your desktop or laptop available for cable or other tv. services (basically turn it into a tv).

What you need is a Flatscreen that's compatible with internet access, because that's how Windows 7 wirelessly streams the video. Basically, figure out a way to hook your tv up to the internet or a router or something like that.

An example for doing this would be to use something like Apple TV. or a slingbox.
