how to wash a backpack (washing machine)?

can i put my backpack in the washer machine?
if so. why put it in a pillow case?
and why turn it inside out. the outside is dirty too.

please help

The inside will get clean if you turn it inside out. That just protects the outside decorations.. just throw it in the wash with cold water though. No pillowcase needed.
 
Yeah it should be fine, turn it inside out so any detailing on the outside dusn't get messed up, or the color fade. putting it in a pillowcase will only ruin the color on the pillow case.
if not just 409 it with papertowels?
 
I don't think you need to be so gentle with a backpack. They are made to be rugged. The outside is usually the dirtiest part. Wash it with a couple pair of jeans, so your washer doesn't go off balance.
