How to use HTML without it actually working?

So someone asked me something about HTML.

I need to put the HTML in the comment but I can't or she won't see what I'm talking about.

Like, I need to put <u> in there but if I do, it'll just underline the word.
But I need her to actually be able to see the code.

How do I do that?
