I work for a company that wants to get some USB thumb drives loaded with product literature to hand out at an upcoming trade show. I've already picked a company to use for this, so I don't need any advice on that aspect of the job.
I'm using a company that can produce drives with our company logo printed on them along with data pre-loading and an option they call "Data Locking" that prevents users from deleting the files pre-loaded onto the drive (while still being able to use the left over free space for their own personal data.)
However, I'm now realizing that if I have the company Data Lock the files I will be unable to manually update the left over drives when new literature comes out. So my question is this, if I order the drives without the data lock feature is there some method or software program I can use to manually do it myself? Obviously I can't just click "Read Only" on the drive properties because then the user could just go in and un-check it.
Ideally I would be able to plug the drive in, copy files to it, and then lock the files so they can't be deleted while still allowing the user to use the left over disk space however they want to. Perhaps it would require a password to modify the protected files but no password to view them.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
