how to update sony ericsson xperia X8 to android 2.2?

I have the sony ericsson xperia X8 and i would like to update it to android 2.2. I know sony have not announced that they will not be updating it. I want to have a flash player. Do i need to root it. Will i still be able to use the android market if i use froyo or something
 
Unfortunately, there is no way to get the Android 2.2 update for the Xperia X8. The X8 (along with other Xperia phones) have locked bootloaders which makes it nearly impossible to install custom ROMs into (therefore, rooting is pretty much pointless because you still can't get Android 2.2 onto it). As SE has stated, they will only unlock bootloaders for their 2011 onward line of Xperia phones (arc, neo, play and etc.)... Also, even if you do get Android 2.2 working, you still won't be able to load Flash content as it's not compatible. You're pretty much stuck with Android 2.1.
