How to unlock my iphone 3gs ?--NO SIM CARD INSTALLED----?

I have a new 3gs iphone bought from uk and no i am in india ! when i switch on my iphone its showing -NO SIM CARD INSTALLED-+Insert a valid sim to activate the phone+ its showing like this , i cant go inside or do any thing what should i do ith this , how can i jailbreak or how can i open my home screen ????
