How to turn off the history in the address bar on Internet Explorer for Vista?

I was wondering if there was a way to cut off the history and favorites from the address bar on Vista. I don't care for the extra long address bar and would like for it to be gone. I have looked for a solution and didn't see anything.

Thanks

Go to tools...click on that...then go down to were it says toolbars...unclick the one you don't want to have show...otherwise you would have to go into "C" files and delete it...which i personaly would not do..you never know..you may just want it back on at some point....

What IE are you using?

But this should work. Click the 'tools' bar on the upper right of your IE window. Scroll down to "toolbars'. Uncheck 'menubar', and possibly favorites bar too if you don't want it. Any bar that has a check next to it is currently running

This is on IE 8
