I hate restaurants on or around Valentine's Day, especially after the awkward experience my wife and I had two years ago. Sat, Feb 12th, my little brother, nephew and nieces (5,6,8,8) are going to run a restaurant in my dining room and kitchen, which they're crazily excited about. It's also a surprise to my wife.
How do I convert an 18ft x 12ft dining room into a restaurant. I got tables, table cloths, candles, a few other necessities. I have white Christmas lights that I'm going to drape in front of the two large windows outside. But what are some good ideas for lighting, atmosphere, etc? Main access to the dining room is through the car port.
I also want a few other couples over, like bro-in-law and his wife, close friends. It'll keep the kids busy, and give it more of that restaurant vibe, rather than a nice dinner at home... served by little ones.
Food's covered. I'm cooking everything beforehand and the kids will be able to operate out of the kitchen.
Disposable (but nice) dinnerware, cleanup will be fast.
Kids will have a blast and will be paid for their work, of course.
Your creative ideas are appreciated!
