how to treat rust on cooking grids of a gas grill?

rust is building up on my new grill, how do I treat it and prevent it?

You can't prevent it. If it rust now it will rust forever. best you can do is wire brush it off and grease it down with cooking oil. It will keep rust to a minimum.

After using, wire brush the big stuff off. Let it cool and spray with non-stick spray (Pam). Heat before using the next time.

The grill are made out of steel, that's why they rust,
replace it with a stainless steel one or
at a hardware store, get some navel jelly,
it will stop the rust, then use tin foil on the grate,
