so two days ago i was climbing down a wooden ladder from a hay loft and caught my pinky finger on it and ripped most of the skin off my finger. it is a fairly deep broad gash and it did bleed profusely for a while. when i got back home i cleaned it with "cleansing wipes" from my first aid kit, the main ingredient in this is alcohol. I then put a band aid on it and waited for it to stop bleeding. the next day i removed the band aid cleaned it again and then added neosporin and re bandaged it. heres the only problem though. its been two days and it is beginning to scar, but the problem is that one end of the wound is starting to look infected. What can i do to attempt to stop this. I am in college and thus have a limited amount of money to spend on drugs. I have some anti- biotic ointment that i use on tattoos to stop infection but am not sure weather to use it or not. Any thoughts or suggestions? i'm thinking of cutting back on nepsporin and letting it scar since my bodies bacterial fitting abilities will kick in. Also the gash is maybe 2 1/2 inches long.
