"How to Train Your Dragon" Sequel Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Me am filling with anger since they botched the first movie (which you can tell by just the trailer)... What will they do to 'How to be a Pirate'?!

Fuuuuu...

Not that I want a sequel to Monsters vs. Aliens, but that movie did pretty good at the box office both in America and overseas. Why didn't that get one?

Well, since the movie was based on book series, and that series has 8 books in it so far, I guess they could use one of them to make a franchise out of.

Do yourself a favor and go see the movie. I know several people who saw it and liked the book and loved the movie. Also, if it's still bothering you, just ignore the title. It really is an excellent film.

It's not the plot it's the concept, in the book Hiccup would be considered weak and a loser even today, he wasn't even an inventor, in fact the only thing that made him 'smart' was that he could read, and therefore learn, and Toothless was just as much as a loser dragon, he couldn't even breath fire, and was as big as a small dog... Yet in the movie, Hiccup becomes some sort of child prodigy who is just unrecognized, and Toothless becomes super-macho-ultimate dragon material. So, no... just no... As soon as I watch Shrek 4 and Madagascar finishes, I am DONE with Dreamworks... [/rant+explanation]

I can understand your anger but I swear, HTTYD is just a great film, period. I can see it being nominated for Best Picture. Also, with your last sentence, are you encouraging to make unnecessary sequels to their usual pop-culture comedy?

I haven’t seen the movie yet, as I seldom go to the theater, but I have no problem with DreamWorks doing what it does. However, somebody at DreamWorks made a comment to the Animation Guild Blog that implies the two directors each have somewhat different plans for the sequel. It’s likely that they’ll work it out and come up with something that they both agree on, but it’s interesting to note.

I have no doubts about the quality of a sequel but this worries me. I don't want this series to be run into the ground. D: If this series ever does come into fruitation I wonder if Cressida Cowell will have any imput.

Penguins is doing pretty remarkable. The quality is great and the series expertly shifts to different points-of-view of the charaters. I trust Dream Works. ;)

"How to Train Your Dragon" Sequel Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

I?d welcome an animated program. My favorite animated program of all time was based on a movie and I enjoyed what Disney did in the 90s. If DreamWorks wants to carry on the torch of turning all of their successful movies into animated programs, then more power to them. I honestly believe that The Penguins Of Madagascar is better than either Madagascar movie, and what little I?ve seen of Kung Fu Panda: Legends Of Awesomeness looks solid. I?m not sure if the Monsters vs. Aliens series got picked up.

Actually MvA will only have a TV series, and not a movie sequel.

Heh, Dragonrider Vikings versus Pirates! They could make it so that the pirates are invading, and probably know the dragon lore much more than Hiccup.
