I have a 3-year-old neutered cat who has not been outside since he was 5-weeks-old. About a month ago he started pooping (but not peeing) outside his litter box. I immediately took him to the vet and he got a clean bill of health. I have tried EVERYTHING to get this cat re-trained to his litterbox including switching cat litter, adding more boxes, adding Litter Magnet to the litter, confining him to a small space with the litter box for ten days and nothing has worked. We live on five acres with mostly woodland around us and I don't know what else to do with him. I can't have a pet that uses the bathroom all over the house. How can I re-train him to the great outdoors? He is up-to-date on his shots.
When I said i tried EVERYTHING I do mean everything! the only other option my vet had was to put him on behavior-altering drugs, which I am not willing to do. There were no changes in routine, no new pets...etc.
