How to text him and not seem creepy?

One of my friends is really good friends with my crush and I was thinking of asking her to give me his number over text so I can text to him over the summer. If I did that, how could I text him and not seem kinda weird for just happening to get his number? What should I say to him?
 
You can text him by saying, "So sorry for getting your number from a friend, but I just had to talk to you!" Or you can have your friend text him and ask for permission if it's easier and tell him that you like him.
 
Do you guys have any inside jokes? Or things you guys talk about? For example, If you always joke about a certain teacher, just be like "You'll never guess who I just saw". Or you could text him and be like guess who(:. Just be yourself, and be sincere and he'll like you, and if he doesn't he's not worth it (:
 
you could be like, hey then once he asks who is this make it all casual and cool by saying something like your mom or ur lover until he guesses who u actually r then it wont really be weird and i promise you he wont ask how you got his number :) good luck
