How to tether with a Samsung Memoir (SGH-T929) on T-Mobile?

I have a Samsung Memoir (SGH-T929) by T-Mobile. I also have Samsung PC Studio and the USB/Modem drivers for my memoir. The Memoir uses a proprietary Touch-Wiz interface and seems to have a block on allowing tethering. Normally, with Samsung phones and PC Studio, when your device is connected (under Windows), the "Networking" icon is valid and a Dial-Up Networking connection can be established. With my T-Mobile phone, the "Networking" icon in PC Studio is unavailable, and the phone cannot connect it's 3G network to my PC. My question is: Is it possible to change the limitations of the phones software to allow tethering? I know how to access the advanced phone settings, but am not sure of which settings should be changed. I can also enter the diagnostics and programming mode (holding both volume buttons while powering on), but my PC apparently does not recognize the HSDPA device. Do you have any clues as to what I can do to bypass or remove the block on tethering? Would removing the network lock enable tethering or would it only allow me to use another cellular network, like AT&T (and have nothing to do with tethering)?
